Sarah Keating is an attorney, a businesswoman and most importantly, a loving wife and mother. She has known Jay Michael since she was a teenager, when she was a regular at his original landmark Bala Cynwyd salon. Sarah shares many of the same business beliefs and guiding principles as Jay, which is what led to their partnership, creating the largest five-star, full-service beauty powerhouse in the greater Philadelphia area now with locations in Center City, the Main Line, and in Delaware County. Sarah, founder and owner of the Phoenix Salon and Spa in Center City Philadelphia, had a vision for her beauty establishment at its inception six years ago – to be “A Salon with A Cause.” Sarah has infused the Jay Michael brand with her inspiring charitable spirit. Now, her credo will be supported and implemented by all three Jay Michael Salon and Spa locations and their carefully selected employees. Philanthropy is a very rare trait for an upscale collection of salons to possess, and this most definitely sets the Jay Michael brand apart from the rest. Jay Michael Salon and Spa is home to beauty and wellness professionals in three upscale locations, but more importantly it is home to ambassadors of beauty, well-being, and community goodwill.
Sarah is the Founder of Women Empowering Women (WEW), an organization that hosts events to raise awareness and much needed funding for the homeless community.
In addition to her role as co-partner to Jay Michael, Sarah is also the CEO of Keating Environmental Management, a local, female-owned firm that for more than 20 years has been dedicated to full-service environmental consulting, environmental remediation, alternative energy solutions, and sustainability.
She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Forum of Executive Women, the Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC), the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), and the Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP).
She serves on the board of Calcutta House and the Abramson Cancer Center Director’s Leadership Council (ACCDLC) at the University of Pennsylvania. She is also involved with the City of HOPE and its quest to find a cure for cancer.
In her time away from work, she is dedicated to her six children, her dogs, and her husband of 23 years, Dan Keating.
